My career has been in the Media and Marketing Research industries with a focus on sales, operations and client service. The majority of my professional career has been at two companies: Nielsen Media Research and Synovate. I consider myself an early adopter of new technology, software and social media.
During a career transition in 1998, I learned about the professional job search process while working with an outplacement service. I utilized these concepts in my job search and shared them with many individuals during their career transitions.
In 2010 I started conducting LinkedIn workshops for Harper College @ the Illinois WorkNet Center in Arlington Heights. During the next several years, I conducted presentations on several topics for other colleges and libraries – Resumes and Cover Letters, Keys to a Successful Interview, Using Social Media in Job Search and LinkedIn Basics and Best Practices. Additionally, I Co-Facilitated the Crystal Lake Public Library Job Club where I led discussions and provided on information job search topics.
I conducted practice interviews with the McHenry County Workforce Network Center clients to help them improve their communication skills during face-to- face interviews. I continue to conduct LinkedIn workshops and practice interviews helping clients improve their positioning in the market.
Bruce, just a note to say THANK YOU – your blog and your commitment to helping others looking for employment is a real generosity. I suspect I will be reaching out to you in the future-
regards
Julie
